Built by an advocate who gets it

AdvocateIQ was created by Melissa Griffiths, founder of DFW Advocacy. She's been a practicing special education advocate since 2018 — COPAA trained, Wrightslaw trained, Texas Partners in Policymaking. She built this platform because she knows firsthand how many families need help and how few advocates have the bandwidth to reach them.

This isn't a generic marketplace built by a tech company. It's a tool designed specifically for the way advocates actually work — and the families you serve.

How it works

By the time a parent reaches you, they've done real homework. Here's the path that gets them to your inbox.

1

Parent analyzes their child's IEP

They upload the IEP or 504 Plan to AdvocateIQ and get a detailed analysis: missing baselines, vague goals, compliance gaps, service adequacy. They see the document the way you see it.

2

Parent requests a match

They select their child's disability categories, grade level, and the type of support they need. AdvocateIQ scores advocates by specialties, location, availability, and experience.

3

Parent books a consultation with you

They see your profile, your rate, and your credentials — and they choose you. You get the booking notification along with the full AdvocateIQ analysis report, so you walk in prepared.

4

You consult. Stripe handles the rest.

Virtual or in-person — your call. Stripe Connect pays you directly when the consultation is booked. No invoicing, no chasing payments, no awkward money conversations.

What you get

We designed this for advocates who value their time and their reputation. Here's what joining actually means.

Qualified leads only

Every parent who reaches you has already uploaded and analyzed their child's IEP. They know what's wrong. They know they need help. These aren't tire-kickers — they're families ready to act.

Pre-analyzed documents

Before your consultation, you receive the full AdvocateIQ analysis report. You know the disability categories, the identified gaps, and the parent's specific concerns before you say hello.

You control everything

Set your own consultation fee. Choose virtual or in-person. Toggle availability on or off. Take a break, come back, no questions asked. Your practice, your rules.

Build your reputation

A professional profile with your bio, specialties, credentials, and client reviews. Families find you based on your expertise — and your reviews travel with you.

No invoicing hassle

Payments go through Stripe Connect. You onboard once, and every consultation pays out automatically. No paper invoices, no waiting, no awkward reminders.

Backed by a practicing advocate

Melissa Griffiths is available to network members. This isn't a faceless platform — it's a community run by someone who does this work every day.

Transparent fees. No surprises.

We know advocates are skeptical of platforms that take a cut. Here's exactly how our model works — no fine print.

You set

Your fee

Minimum $50

Platform fee

$25 flat

Deducted from your fee

You receive

The rest

After $25 + Stripe processing

Example

You set your consultation fee at $150
Parent pays $150
Platform fee (flat) −$25.00
Stripe processing (~2.9% + $0.30) −$4.65
You receive ~$120.35

The consultation fee is the single price the parent pays. AdvocateIQ deducts a flat $25 platform fee plus standard Stripe processing (~2.9% + $0.30). You receive the remainder via Stripe Connect.

Who can join

We keep the bar high to protect families — and your reputation.

  • Independent special education advocate

Not currently employed by a school district. You work for families, not systems.

  • Relevant training or experience

COPAA training, Wrightslaw certification, former special education teacher, or equivalent hands-on experience. We'll ask you to describe your background.

  • Serving Texas families

We're currently focused on Texas. Expanding to additional states soon — fill out the form below if you're outside Texas and interested.

  • Stripe Connect onboarding

You'll need a Stripe Connect account to receive payouts. Takes about 10 minutes to set up after you're approved.

  • Agreement to Advocate Terms of Service

Covers confidentiality, independent contractor status, and platform guidelines. Read the full terms →

Common questions

How does the fee structure work?

You set your consultation fee (minimum $50). The parent pays that single amount. AdvocateIQ deducts a flat $25 platform fee and Stripe deducts processing fees (~2.9% + $0.30). You receive the rest. For a $150 consultation, you'd receive approximately $120.35.

What if I'm not taking new clients right now?

You control your availability. Toggle it off when you're at capacity, on when you're open. No penalty, no pressure. You won't receive match requests when you're unavailable.

Do I have to do virtual consultations?

It's your call. You can offer virtual, in-person, or both. Parents see your preference when they book.

What does the parent see before they pick me?

Your profile: bio, specialties, credentials, consultation fee, service area, and reviews from past clients. We surface the advocates who are the best match for each family's specific situation.

What does the AdvocateIQ analysis report look like?

It's a structured review of the IEP or 504 Plan — PLAAFP quality, goal measurability, service adequacy, accommodation alignment, and IDEA compliance gaps. You receive it before the consultation so you can prepare.

I'm not in Texas. Can I still apply?

We're starting with Texas and expanding state by state. Fill out the application form below with your location — we'll add you to the waitlist for your state.
